With each year comes moments we wish we could relive. As 2023 comes to an end, we look back on five of our favorite WCRA moments from this year.
Sissy Winn’s hometown victory
It was hard not to cheer for two-time NFR qualifier Sissy Winn at her hometown rodeo, Rodeo Corpus Christi. Not only did she clinch the win, she ran the fastest time of the week to do so and take home $15,000.
Laura Mote’s not too young to break records
Laura Mote may only be 19, but she’s proved she can run with the best of them, and she demonstrated it yet again at the 2023 Women’s Rodeo World Championship when she broke the Cowtown Coliseum arena record with a 12.967-second run.
@barrelracingdotcom If you’re out to break records, you have to push the limit. #LauraMote wasn’t letting that barrel fall and stop her and #RebHotRedbull from breaking the Cowtown Coliseum arena record in 12.967 seconds. Link in bio to learn how she mastered her mental game and got it done at the Women’s Rodeo World Championship. #BarrelRacing #Cowgirl #RodeoTok #WRWC #WCRARodeo #BarrelRacer #FemaleAthlete #FortWorth #LauraMote ♬ originalljud – absolutesnacc
$63K payday for Cheyenne Wimberley
It wasn’t all about the young guns in Fort Worth for the 2023 WRWC. Cheyenne Wimberley proved that consistency reigns supreme at the WRWC, earning the $60,000 event championship
Planes, trains and automobiles for Ryann Pedone
If you want to be a winner, you’ve got to be willing to do whatever it takes, even if it means flying from a futurity 1,000 miles away and stepping off the plane just hours before you win the first round of WCRA Rodeo Carolina like Ryann Pedone did.
Put it on repeat, Stephanie Fryar
Stephanie Fryar was comfortable in North Carolina, building on her round-win in progressive Round 2 to take the Triple Crown of Rodeo Championship on with a time of 16.69 seconds.
