Hayle Gibson-Stillwell and Buncha Dinero (“Piper”) won The American Rodeo and a $100,000 first-place check Saturday night at Globe Life Field, edging Heidi Gunderson and Wonder If Im Lucky (“Casey”) by .061 in the final, 15.428 to 15.489.

Friday’s Contender Finals seeded the Saturday field. Of the 15 qualifiers from the three regional rounds (five each from Eastern, Central and Western), the top five advanced into the Showdown alongside the returning invitees:

• Champion ($15,000): Taylor Armenta & Hes Got Cat Style, the cowbred one by Palo Duro Cat (an HBC son) out of My La Tee Da by Sonnys Hot Jazz.

May Day Barrel Bonanza (Ocala, Florida)

The May Day Bonanza wrapped at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala with a $20,000-added Open (two rounds plus a clean-slate finals), a $5,000-added Futurity, a Saturday Super Derby High Stakes, a $1,000-added Youth 4D Showcase and a $2,000-added 25K Limited Rider class.

Futurity Average (two-go):

• Champion (31.858, $1,539): Taylor Carver & Fired Up On Vodka, a 2022 bay mare by Triple Vodka out of Fired For A Cause by Cause Its Money, owned by April M. Snipes.
• Reserve (31.968, $1,154): Margo Crowther & Hp Epic Fame, by Epic Leader out of Chrome Plated Fame by Dash Ta Fame, bred by Charlie Cole and Jason Martin.
• 3rd (32.613, $770): Brittany Dallaire & Chasin That Dollar.

Round 1 went to Carver and Fired Up On Vodka in a 15.916 for $745; Round 2 went to Crowther and Hp Epic Fame in a 15.856 for another $745. Both top-two Futurity horses carry Fire Water Flit on the bottom side.

Open Finals (clean-slate $10,000):

• Champion (15.679, $3,521): Margo Crowther & Prisonerr.
• 2nd (15.847, $2,881): Megan Swint & Nnn Famous Firewater.
• 3rd (15.866, $2,134): Taylor Carver & Miss Rare Perks, a 2017 bay mare by Rare N Famous out of Swingin Perks by Dash For Perks, owned and bred by Carver.
• 4th (15.921, $1,387): Crowther & Hp Epic Fame (the Futurity horse cashing in the Open Finals 1D).
• 5th (15.970, $747): Swint & Streak N Makes Me Hyper.

Carver brought four horses inside the Open Round 1 1D, with Miss Rare Perks winning the round in a 15.886. Round 2 belonged to Megan Feaster and Bj Nonstop Affair in a 15.791, the fastest Open time of the weekend at that point. Bj Nonstop Affair is a 2012 gray mare by Hand Off Boy out of An All Night Affair by Nonstop Jet, owned by Laurie Clopton and bred by Roy Jones.

Across the Futurity and the Open Finals, Crowther cashed at least $7,379, with Hp Epic Fame alone earning $3,858 between the two classes. Carver banked $4,834-plus across her string. Swint took home $3,628 just on her two Finals checks. (Open round payouts were not displayed on the Saddlebook leaderboard at writeup time and are likely higher.)
