Full Results: More Champions Crowned as Ruby Buckle Central 2024 Wins Down

The $1,255,000 Ruby Buckle Central Race is underway in Guthrie, Okla., and here’s everything you need to know, including results about the barrel racing and horse sale action happening from Apr. 22-28, 2024.

Ruby Buckle Derby

Round 1

Tyler Rivette and Slingin Firewater won the first round of the $85,000-guaranteed Ruby Buckle Central Race at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, collecting the first big check of the $1,255,000 event. 

That blazing time ultimately earned Rivette, aboard the 2019 bay roan gelding by A Streak Of Fling and out of Firewater Traffic by Firewater Ta Fame the $5,100 aggregate win for owner Rosemary Harrison, plus an additional $638 each for Harrison as the breeder and stallion A Streak Of Fling. 

“Slingin Firewater was really running today,” Rivette said. “I mean, on a standard pattern (like at the Lazy E Arena), you can’t have a slow horse. You just can’t substitute speed.”

The first day of Ruby Buckle Central competition featured 311 entries for the Derby. Jodee Miller and M R On Fire Guys, a 2017 gelding by French Streaktavegas and out of N Fuego by Walk Thru Fire emerged as formidable contenders, delivering a standout run with a time of 16.821 seconds. This impressive performance earned Miller a second-place finish, worth $3,400 for M R Performance Horses as the owner, along with $425 each for breeder Stacey Dunn and stallion French Streaktavegas.

Bailey McClure clinched victory aboard Endless Possibilitiez in the second division. The 2017 gelding by The Money Depot and out of Final Exultation by Jet Of Honor raced to victory, earning $2,400 for the owner, McClure herself, and $300 each for breeder Trena Greer and stallion The Money Depot.

Round 2

Danyelle Campbell and Return Of The Mac notched the win in Round 2 in 16.721 seconds, earning $5,100 for owners FC Ranch. “Creed,” is a 2017 gelding by A Smooth Guy and out of Mackilts by Dash Ta Fame. The duo also earned $638 for FC Ranch as the breeder and $638 for A Smooth Guy.

On her heels was a 16.733 turned in by Marne Loosenort aboard PT Love Tabea Blazin, a 2019 stallion by Blazin Jetolena and out of the accomplished mare, Lovin Fame by Dash Ta Fame. Loosenort earned $3,400 for herself and Danny Kingins as the owners, $425 to Kingins as the breeder and $425 for Blazin Jetolena.

Aggregate

Campbell and Return Of The Mac, or “Creed,” round win helped notch the aggregate championship for the team. Combined with their time of 16.895 from Round 1, a total of 33.616 seconds on two runs equated to $10,200 for FC Ranch as owners, $1,275 as breeders and $1,275 for A Smooth Guy.

Behind Campbell, Jodee Miller and M R Im On Fire Guys went 33.764 seconds on two runs to earn $6,800 for owner M R Performance Horses, $850 for French Streaktovegas and $850 to breeder Stacey Dunn.

Rounding out the 1D top three in the aggregate was Cheyenne Wimberley with a 33.855 on Fast Flingin Dash, her 2017 gelding by A Streak Of Fling and out of Dash Ta Suz by Dash Ta Fame.

In the 2D, UX Swayzi Stinson earned the $4,800 win for owner and rider, Josie Cole. The 2017 mare earned $600 for sire Eddie Stinson and $600 for breeders Marlin & Jinx Maude.

Ruby Buckle Futurity

Round 1

Michelle Alley and Lipstick N Stillettos headlined Round 1 of the $200,000 Ruby Buckle Central Futurity with an astonishing new Buckles record inside the Lazy E Arena in 16.476 seconds. “Stiletto” is a 2020 mare owned by Heather Moeller. She’s by RR Mistakelly and out of Seis Caress, or “Saucy,” Alley’s standout rodeo mount by Tres Seis. The win paid $8,000 to Moeller, $1,000 for RR Mistakelly and $1,000 for Alley as the breeder.

Stallion RR Mistakelly’s first foal crop hit the ground back in 2020, therefore “Stiletto,” represents one of the young stud’s freshman foal crop. Although the long-strided Stiletto took home the biggest payday, RR Mistakelly also saw Craig Brooks and Prisonerr, out of NFR mare Shes Packin Fame place in the 1D, and Brandon Cullins cash in aboard Miss Mistakelly in the 2D.

The second-place honors in the 1D went to Dustin Angelle and Swingers Kandy, a 2020 model by The Kandyman and out of the superstar mare Hip Swingin Gypsy, by FireWaterOnTheRocks. The pair earned $5,600 for owner Southwestern Farms, $700 for breeder J Garcia Land Holdings, LLC and $700 for The Kandyman.

In the 2D, the win went to EP I See and Illinois’ Elaina McKinney. The duo clocked a 17.227 to earn $4,800 for owner Rick McKinney and $600 each for breeder, Webb Ranch and stallion Epic Leader. EP I see is a 2020 gelding by Epic Leader and out of Morning Sun Shine by Frenchmans Guy.

Round 2

The second round of the Futurity was a cutthroat contention in both the round and the aggregate. When the dust settled on 354 entries, the champions of the day were Kassie Mowry and the 2020 mare, Last Kiss Goodbye by The Goodbye Lane and out of Famous Sophie by Dash Ta Fame. Mowry earned $8,000 for owner Jessica Harper, $1,000 for herself as the breeder and $1,000 for The Goodbye Lane.

Aggregate

Last Kiss Goodbye’s twin sibling, Goodbye Sophie also ended up within the top four in the second round, plus won the reserve aggregate championship with a time of 33.660 seconds on two runs. 

Lipstick N Stilletos was the horse Mowry finished behind in that aggregate race. The 2020 mare by RR MIstakelly and out of Seis Caress by Tres Seis is the same athlete that set a new Buckles record inside the Lazy E in 16.476 seconds during Round 1. She returned to keep it clean in the turns and clock a 17.139 in the second round to clinch the championship in 33.615 seconds, earning $17,000 for owner Heather Moeller, $2,000 for herself, the breeder and $2,000 for RR Mistakelly.

In the 2D, Timber Allenbrand and Goodbye To The Pace earned the win and $10,200 in the Futurity for herself as the owner, plus $1,200 for breeder Trisha Allenbrand and $1,200 for The Goodbye Lane. Goodbye To The Pace is a 2019 mare by The Goodbye Lane and out of Disturbing The Pace by Rene Dan Jet.

Rookie Ruby

Round 1

Ada, Oklahoma’s Devon Brown won Round 1 of the inaugural Rookie Ruby class in 16.805 seconds on IKnow Im Blazin Fast, a 2016 gelding by Blazin Jetolena and out of IKnow SheKnows IKnow by Tres Seis. Brown earned $4,740 as the owner and $593 each for breeders Cody & Renae Smith and Blazin Jetolena.

Round 2

Brown continued her Rookie Ruby success on Friday, clocking a 16.854 and earning an additional $4,740, plus $593 each for breeder and stallion.

Behind her, Keyla Polizello Costa went second in the round, just as she did in the first round. She was aboard The Dragon Roll, a 2015 gelding by Frenchmans Guy and out of Tellhericalled by Dash Ta Fame. Her second round time, a 16.968 was worth $3,160 for herself as the owner, $395 for Frenchmans Guy and $395 for breeders Megan, Bill & Susie Lewis.

Youth

Round 1

In the first round of the $15,000 Youth incentive, 11-year-old barrel racing sensation Dusky Lynn Hall and TroubleNvrLookSoGood, the 2013 palomino gelding by First Down French and out of Tatango Twist Te by Triple Twist Te earned the win in 16.995. She earned $900 for herself as the owner, $113 for First Down French and $113 for breeder Michelle DeBoer.

Behind her, Merrick Moyer—the reigning NJHFR champion who also cashed in for $60,000 pole bending at the Hooey Junior Patriot Finals— rolled over from the Derby on Scooting Jetolena, a 2018 mare by Blazin Jetolena and out of Juno She Can Scoot by Juno Dat Cash and went 17.034 seconds. She earned $600 for her the owners and her parents, Sharn & Rikki Moyer, plus $75 each for breeder Janine Bundy Coutts and Blazin Jetolena.

Round 2

Hall and the palomino gelding TroubleNvrLookSoGood repeated their victory in Round 2, clocking a 17.071 to clinch the win and double their Round 1 earnings.

Hall also earned a second-place finish on Aint Seen Famous Yet in 17.135 seconds. The 2014 palomino gelding is by Aint Seen Nothin Yet and out of A Nasty Chick by Its Royal Time. Hall earned $600 for herself as the rider, $75 for breeder Lindsey J Myers and $75 for Aint Seen Nothin Yet.
