Molly Dismuke and Streakin Moon Flash set the Will Rogers Coliseum on fire, winning the Hooey Jr. Patriot Barrel Racing Semi-Finals and the long round of the Open 5D 1D with a 15.330-second run.

Dismuke, 14, and Streakin Moon Flash pocketed $16,000 for the Hooey Jr. Patriot Semi-Finals win and $3,936 for the Open 5D round win. Winning nearly $20,000 is an indescribable feeling for the Georgia cowgirl and sets up her budding rodeo career.

“I was excited—I didn’t think I was going to win that much,” Dismuke said. “It’s a lot fun. I’d like to college rodeo, so.”

Dismuke focused primarily on staying clean inside the Will Rogers Coliseum.

“It was a good run, but we almost hit the first barrel,” Dismuke said. “And I didn’t realize that we didn’t hit it until we came out of the third. then the second third we were good too. I was just focused on just not hitting barrels. I just make sure she finishes the turn and get a good pocket.”

Dismuke and the 6-year-old mare by have only been a team for a few months, and they’ve admittedly been struggling with hitting barrels. Dismuke has stayed entered up, however, to get things figured out, and it paid off in Fort Worth.

“Just run after run,” Dismuke said of her approach to keeping barrels up. “Running her so much, I’ve kind of figured her out a little bit.”
