The final week of the ProRodeo barrel racing season is underway, and all eyes are on the top 20 as the final group of cowgirls duke it out for the top 15 WPRA positions to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo at events across the United States.

What’s at stake? See last week’s results and more in our ProRodeo report.

The Notes:

Sunday morning update:

Alright, we know what you came here to find out. Who’s in and who’s out?

Katelyn Scott is taking absolutely no prisoners out on the road. She’s placed at two of three California rodeos and is leading San Bernardino going into the final perf. She’s still got an entry at Stephenville and placed at Pasadena. It looks really good for her first NFR qualification chances.

Tricia Aldridge and Halyn Lide just made it through at Sioux Falls to the final eight, which means they’re guaranteed $4,000 each. They haven’t won any money otherwise on the week, however.

Julie Plourde did not win any money at Sioux Falls, nor did she advance. For the cowgirl that’s been hanging out inside the top 15 for months, it’s a heartbreaking waiting game. She did pull a small check at both Pasadena and Mona.

There’s still a chance for Mckenna Coronado. She placed last hole at Pasadena, then went and won Poway and placed deep at Bakersfield. She’s not going down easy. She is entered in San Bernardino in the final Sunday performance, and the projected payout at that rodeo means she’s got a chance with the win to pass Julie Plourde by dollars, and she could lock that position down IF Halyn Lide doesn’t place at Sioux Falls in the eight-man.

If Halyn Lide doesn’t place at Sioux Falls, she will not crack the top 15 mark.

Sunday evening update:

Halyn shook things up at Sioux Falls, bumping Julie Plourde out of position No. 15, while Mckenna Coronado will take the No. 17 position after putting up a remarkable effort across the country on the ProRodeo trail.
