Bayleigh Choate took top honors in Progressive Round 2, adding herself to the roster of seven barrel racers set to run Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the WCRA Rodeo Corpus Christi Triple Crown of Rodeo Round.

Choate and TJR Stinson Blue, “Boozer,” stopped the clock Friday, May 10, in 14.394 seconds to pocket $5,000 for the round win, as well as take the top spot in the Progressive Round aggregate with a 28.844 on two for $7,000.

What else happened in Progressive Round 2?

All eyes have been on Stephanie Fryar as she went into Rodeo Corpus Christi with the opportunity at $1 million. With a 14.71 in the second round, Fryar finished fourth in the Progressive Round aggregate with a 29.35 on two to secure her spot in the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round and make her run for $1 million. If Fryar and “Fast Frank” take the win Saturday nigh, Fryar would be crowned the final WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo recipient and the first female in rodeo history to become an overnight millionaire.

Young gun Makenzie Mayes claimed her spot in the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round after winning Progressive Round 1 with 14.389-second run.

Julie Goodrich has been consistent across two rounds, clocking a 14.593 in the first round and a 14.545 in the second to claim second in the aggregate with a 29.138, securing her a spot in the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round as well.

Reigning Rodeo Corpus Christi champion Sissy Winn finished third in Round 2 with a 14.631. With her 14.592 in the first round, she winds up third in the aggregate with a 29.223 to make her way to the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round.

Ryann Pedone also claimed her spot in the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round finishing fifth in the average with a 29.353.

And the last lady to punch her ticket to the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round is none other than Canadian Julie Plourde. Plourde’s 29.56 on two finished her seventh in the aggregate, but with Choate and Mayes securing their spots through their round wins, Plourde is in for Saturday night.

Kelly Allen finished fourth in Progressive Round 2 with a 14.7-second run, but a down barrel in the first round took away her chances of advancing.

Despite her horse dropping his shoulder on the second and throwing her off balance for a second, Fallon Forbes finished sixth in the second round with a 14.713. A knocked barrel in Round 1 ultimately took her out of the average race.

Cari Titsworth finished seventh in the round with a solid run of 14.721. She was out of the average race, however, due to a down barrel in the first round.

Bella Skinner may have gone a touch wide on the first and then knocked the second barrel to take her out of the aggregate.

Kylee Scribner started a beautiful run but hit the third barrel to take her out of the average.
