In an industry where stallion success is often measured over decades, the Young Guns League is shifting the focus to what matters first: early performance.
The program is now accepting stallion enrollments, offering a dedicated platform designed exclusively for junior stallions whose progeny are already competing and producing results. Our goal is to encourage growth and genetic diversity within the barrel racing industry by promoting and highlighting young stallions progeny.
The Young Guns League was created to recognize and reward young sires during the most critical stage of their breeding careers. By isolating competition to junior stallions, the program provides a national proving ground where their offspring can earn significant payouts without being matched against progeny of long-established sires.

Eligibility is intentionally time-limited. A stallion may be enrolled in the Young Guns League until his oldest foal crop reaches eight years old. Once that threshold is met, the stallion “ages out” of the program and is no longer considered a Young Gunsstallion—ensuring the focus remains squarely on emerging sires.
Participation in the Young Guns League offers meaningful advantages, including increased visibility during a stallion’s formative years, added credibility through performance-based results, and enhanced value for breeders and mare owners seeking young sires with proven early success and a chance at big payouts.
Progeny of enrolled stallions have the opportunity to compete each October during the Pink Buckle, where a guaranteed $525,000 Young Guns League payout is awarded—$275,000 in the Derby and $250,000 in the Futurity.
Enrollment is open to junior stallions that meet program requirements, allowing stallion owners to align their breeding programs with a forward-thinking model that rewards early performance and offers big time opportunities to their stallions first performing crops. By elevating stallions at this stage, the Young Guns League supports smarter breeding decisions and helps identify sires that are producing competitors—not just pedigrees.
