Emma Kate Parr added another line to her resume with a win at the 2025 Resistol Rookie Roundup with a stunning 13.08-second run inside Cowtown Coliseum on DG Excuse My French, known as “Pierre.”
For the win, Parr added a total of $4,222 to her ProRodeo earnings and further secured her No. 1 position with a total of $21,835 won.
The run was a response to peer and Cowtown Coliseum record holder Makenzie Mayes’ run of 13.13 seconds just moments before on Chicado Moon. (Mayes ran a 12.946-second run during the WRWC in May 2024)
“My first barrel felt really good, but I lost my stirrup running to the second,” Parr said. “I really wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get it back, but I did running to the the third. Pierre did great. This setup is a little small for me—I am used to 14-second patterns—so when it gets down into the 13’s, it’s on a different level.”
The win comes on the heels of Parr’s short go berth at Rodeo Austin and American Rodeo Contender Finals Qualification, both of which ended in disappointment.
“At the Austin Finals Pierre ducked the second barrel,” Parr said. “I don’t know if something scared him or what. At the American, he also ducked the alleyway running out. So we’ve been going through a little bit of a struggle and I am really glad things came together here.”
The Resistol Rookie road is one of ups and downs, and up next for Parr is The American Royal Rodeo in Kansas City, Missouri.
