“Every year, we try to make this event even better for all of our stakeholders—the stallion owners, contestants, breeders, and even those watching from afar,” said Kayla Jones, Director of Marketing and PR for the Pink Buckle. “This year’s payout is the biggest we’ve ever had at $4.2 million, and we’ve added an Open-only average payout presented by Red River Equine. We try to always find new ways to celebrate these horses, riders, and the people behind them, and I can’t wait to see it all come together in Guthrie.”
The world’s richest barrel race returns in 2025 with a minimum guaranteed payout of $4.2 million, highlighted by:
- $1,375,000 Hay Chix Open 5D
- $925,000 Classic Equine 2D Futurity (3/4 sec split)
- $725,000 Platinum Performance 2D Derby (3/4 sec split)
- $300,000 5D Owner/Rider
- $200,000 Cori 4D Sale Grad Incentive
- $185,000 Hyer 5D Non-Pro
- $160,000 Equiflow 5D Premier Pink
- $150,000 GP Equine 5D Youth Incentive (16 & Under)
- Plus new and returning incentives for Pink-enrolled horses and Sale Graduates
When the Action Happens (Flow of the Week)
Sunday–Monday (Oct. 5–6): The week opens with the Platinum Performance 2D Derby, with every run counting to the Derby average. (Young Guns sessions run alongside the opening action as scheduled.)
Tuesday–Wednesday (Oct. 7–8): The spotlight shifts to the Classic Equine 2D Futurity, two days of futurity action with average champions decided on combined times.
Thursday (Oct. 9): It’s sale day—the Pink Buckle Stallion Owners Select Sale with a 9 a.m. preview and 1 p.m. sale, featuring elite Pink-program horses.
Saturday–Sunday (Oct. 11–12): The weekend belongs to the Hay Chix Open 5D (two days only), with Equiflow Premier Pink, Hyer Non-Pro, Cori Sale Grad Incentive, Owner/Rider, and GP Equine Youth Incentive also on the card. The Open-only average payout presented by Red River Equine is awarded on combined times from the Open rounds.
