Top barrel racers from across the country battled it out at the 12th Annual Colorado Classic in Montrose, Colorado, with over $150,000 in added money across futurity, maturity, and open incentives.
Held June 12–14, 2025, at the Montrose County Fairgrounds, the Colorado Classic drew elite futurity, maturity, and open horses vying for major payouts and side pot money. With $100,000 added to the Colorado Classic Incentive Futurity alone, plus added money in the DePaolo Equine Concepts Open Futurity, Vista Equine Breeders Futurity, MVP Maturity, and multiple 4D races, the event offered a high-stakes platform for both seasoned veterans and rising stars in the barrel racing industry. Horses enrolled in the Colorado Classic Stallion Incentive program were eligible for even more lucrative prizes, adding competitive fire to every round.

In Round 1, Kathy Grimes and KG Just Money laid down a 15.020-second run to top the round and earn $7,088 in the Colorado Classic. Jolene Montgomery and TC Phelan Famous kept the pressure on with a 15.100 for second and $6,076, while Lora Nichols and Blissful Version clocked a 15.138 to round out the top three for $5,063. Catherine Asmussen took the 2D win with Eddies Frenchman, turning in a 15.774 for $2,532.
Lora Nichols kept her momentum rolling in Round 2 of the Colorado Classic, clocking a 15.060 aboard Blissful Version to earn another $7,088 and sweep both rounds of the futurity. Jolene Montgomery and Move Outta My Lane stayed consistent in second place for $6,076, while Ashley Schafer and Wayde claimed third with a 15.170 to add $5,063 to their weekend total. Hailey Humphrey turned in a 15.866 on El Diablo De Roarrr to take the 2D win and $2,532.
Lora Nichols and Blissful Version stayed locked in through both rounds of the Colorado Classic to claim the aggregate title in Montrose with a combined 30.198, earning $9,451. Kathy Grimes and KG Just Money took second with a 30.372 worth $8,101, followed by Jolene Montgomery and Move Outta My Lane in third for $6,751. DaCota Monk (Seis Martinis) and Ceri Ward (gamblingslick) rounded out the top five with times of 30.689 and 30.749, respectively. The 2D title went to Britney Knowles and FTF Famed Gold Flash, who clocked a 31.691 on two to earn $3,375, with Jaylan Clary and Blazin On By close behind for $2,813.

Maturity
In the $40,000 Colorado Classic Incentive Maturity, Jordynn Knight and Runnin Ron smoked a 15.166 to secure the 1D win in Round 1 and a check for $3,981. Brittany Tonozzi kept the pressure on with a 15.186 aboard Sir Epic to earn second and $3,318, followed closely by Timi Lickley and JL Acquired Taste in third with a 15.280 worth $2,820. The 2D win went to Sarah Andrews and Swoon To Be Famous, who clocked a 15.935 to take home $1,659.
In Round 2 of the Colorado Classic, Brittany Tonozzi and Sir Epic delivered a blazing 15.228-second run to top the 1D and earn $3,981. Jordan Bailey and Ima Girl Fame were hot on her heels with a 15.230 for second and $3,318, while Ceri Ward rounded out the top three with a 15.241 aboard Shawne Streakin Jet, good for $2,820. In the 2D, Kylie Wells and VF Got A Light Eddie claimed the win with a 15.985, taking home $1,659.
Brittany Tonozzi secured the Colorado Classic aggregate title aboard Sir Epic with a combined time of 30.414 seconds, earning $5,308 for the win. Timi Lickley and JL Acquired Taste followed close behind, posting a 30.585 on two for second place and $4,424. Rounding out the top three was Jordan Bailey, who turned in a consistent 30.636 aboard Ima Girl Fame to collect $3,760. In the 2D average, Gracie Camphouse and Tillys Special took the win with a 31.955, earning $2,212.
