This means that barrel racers looking to qualify for the NFR in December are all hungry to secure enough points to stay inside the top 23 cut line—spare Jessica Routier, who’s already locked in thanks to her NFR Open win— and have the opportunity to earn their position into the expected Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the final week of the ProRodeo regular season.

The Rundown
Hear all of this week’s barrel racing news, including a ProRodeo report on this week’s episode of The Rundown on The Money Barrel.
Notable Movers
Kassie Mowry has traditionally opted to skip out on the August rodeos, but this year, she’s got a renewed fire and the incredible Force The Goodbye beneath her. Mowry won the first round in Caldwell, called upon her futurity horse, Goodbye Sophie in the second round to stay in aggregate contention, and placed deep in the Finals to draw a considerable amount out of that event. Additionally, Mowry won Gooding and Canby, plus second in Moses Lake, bringing her earnings to $22,048 on the week. Considering her standings position as of the last update, Mowry looks to be a lock on Puyallup and is moving into world championship conversation with her projected earnings over $134,000.
LaTricia Duke and her stallion DM High Roller, “Vanilla Wafer,” showed consistency across events this week. Thanks to their strong finish at Caldwell, first-place finish at Moses Lake and other placings, they banked $11,335 on the week. Duke was sitting No. 16 in the previous Playoff standings and No. 21 in the World Standings with $66,413.97 earned prior to this week’s rodeos.
Carlee Otero will unofficially move inside the top 15 cut line after a strong week aboard Blingolena, “Sly.” She split second place in Gooding, set a new arena record in Burley, Idaho, to win the rodeo by .2 and placed at Caldwell for an estimated earnings of $10,377. With $72,600 won in the previous No. 17 position, Otero should overtake reigning world champion, Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi for the 15 spot.
At No. 22 in the standings, Jordon Briggs continues to swim upstream on Famous Lil Jet, “Rollo.” She won the second round in Caldwell, and despite a costly fall in the Finals, earned $11,764.
Michelle Alley and the standout futurity horse, Lipstick N Stilettos won Caldwell Nights Rodeo on three runs, plus clocked the fastest time of the week during the Finals. The duo amassed $10,369 for the win, aiding their efforts to qualify for Puyallup and move from the No. 45 position in the World Standings.
