Another week of The Rundown podcast is back to break down the hottest barrel racing events once again with this anticipated weekly news podcast from The Money Barrel and BarrelRacing.com.

Inside this week’s episode

The latest episode of The Rundown breaks down everything happening across the country in the barrel racing world—from massive payouts and Calgary qualifiers to standout futurity bloodlines and emerging names making noise in the 2D.

In this week’s episode, Kayla and Casey take listeners through highlights from Texas to Oregon and all the way up to Canada, with over $100,000 in prize money, huge futurity fields, and key updates for WPRA competitors. Here are a few of the standout stories from this episode of The Rundown:

🔹 Calgary Qualifier Update

WPRA cardholders still have time to enter the Western Region Calgary Qualifier in Salina, Utah, with the deadline extended to Thursday at noon. This race could punch a ticket to the Calgary Stampede in both barrel racing and breakaway roping.

🔹 San Angelo Rodeo

With over $45,000 added and nearly 300 barrel racers entered, the San Angelo slack round was stacked. Abby Fields earned nearly $11,000 for her round win—enough to shake up the WPRA world standings in a big way. Plus, Jordan Driver turned in a dominant performance in the coliseum arena to lead the average heading into next weekend.

🔹 Buttercup Futurity

The Buttercup Futurity in Illinois brought out some Midwest firepower, with Randee Prindle and her paint mare Poker Chip rising to the top.
This episode dives into the unique format, deep bloodlines, and how futurity producers are rewarding average performers more than ever.

🔹 Sand Cup Futurity

Amberleigh Moore and her homebred mare Tres Dark Tigress dominated at the Sand Cup in Moses Lake, WA, but it was Sammie Jo Merriott and Kathy Grimes’ stallion KG JustStealingCash who stole the show in the Tim Corfield Memorial Slot Race.
We also highlight some exciting 2D futurity wins and Derby shakeups that show just how competitive the Northwest scene has become.

🔹 Redmond, Levelland, and High Desert ProRodeo Headlines

Hayle Gibson picked up a major win at the High Desert Stampede in Oregon, while Jymmy Cox and Krystal Dillmantied to split the win in Levelland, Texas. We also check in on top riders like Megan McLeod SpragueTiany Schuster, and Tana Renick who are quietly building big years.

🔹 Dash 4 Dollars

The Dash 4 Dollars brought big payouts and even bigger stories—like Titan, the orphan colt turned winner for Maggie Poloncic, and Deena Van Tassell’s continued success on Sassy Little Merri. This one was packed with horses to watch and young riders rising fast.

🔹 Coming Up: Levi Wright Memorial Race

Mark your calendars for July 18–20 in Salina, Utah. With $12,500 added, Royal Crown incentives, and a Phil Haugen Horsemanship demo, this memorial race will be one of the key summer stops.
