Sunday, Oct. 6 marked the start of the $4.6 million week of barrel racing action at the 2024 Pink Buckle and Young Guns League races inside the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla.

Young Guns Derby
The day kicked off on the Ride TV livestream with the inaugural running of the $250K Young Guns League Derby, featuring over 40 promising progeny and program stallions. The win went to the Brazilian standout, EF Eurus Ta Fame beneath Sidnei Pereira Da Silva Jr. The 2014 son of Dash Ta Fame out of EF Brahma Brown by EF Shady Brown, went 16.925 seconds on the Lazy E’s standard barrel racing pattern to earn the $12,664 total win.

The standout stallion also came back in the second round on day two with a 17.031, worth the $10,313 win to sweep the competition and earn the aggregate victory in 33.956 on two runs, worth the $21,269 total earnings.
Each Day, Deena Van Tassell found herself in the No. 2 position behind the Brazilian stallion aboard Sassy Little Merri, who clocked times of 17.327 and 17.055 for a total of 34.382 on two, and combined earnings of $29,858. In the 2D, day one saw Natalie Deking on her Young Guns League enrolled stallion, Deking Of Flings earn the $5,313 total victory. Deking Of Flings is a 2018 stallion by A Streak of Fling out of Miss Zodiac Cash Bar x Our Hush Money.
Round 2’s 2D honors went to Dude Can Cash and Shelby Hemmer. Bred by Britany Diaz, the 2019 gelding is by HP Dash Ta Fiesta and out of Diaz’ NFR mare, Dasher Dude by Texas High Dasher. Their 17.801 was worth the $5,313 win.
In the aggregate, the chips fell perfectly for Sassy Father John and Alexa Beaulieu to win the $10,625 payday thanks to their 35.504 on two runs. Sassy Father John is by Mr Sassy Frenchman and out of Copy Em Chick by Chicks A Blazin.
Pink Buckle Derby
The first day of the Pink Buckle Derby 2024 saw none other than the all-time leading futurity mare who is now in her final Derby season, Hello Stella and Sharin Hall clock a 16.665-second run to earn the $23,500 payday. The run pushed “Stella,” over the $965K mark in lifetime earnings. Stella is a 2017 mare by The Goodbye Lane out of Go Go Fame x Dash Ta Fame.
Meanwhile, decorated mare Thirty Six Roses and Ryann Pedone, plus JD Designed To A Te and 15-year-old Jada Smith split the win, earning a total of $9,000 each.

Day two of competition was tight at the top and made for a mixed bag in the aggregate. After turning in a 17.0 in Round 1, World Champion Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi showed up on Sir Epic, the 2018 gelding by JL Sirocco out of So Very Epic by Epic Leader. Owned by Morgan Bagwell and bred by Karma Loftin, Sir Epic’s 16.712-second run was good enough for the $23,500 finish. Tonozzi also finished third in the aggregate, banking an additional $25,850.
In the aggregate, Kelly Bowser and Quarento Tres secured their Pink Buckle Derby title with a smoking 16.717-second time, putting $16,450 total on the stallion’s lifetime earnings for the second-place finish in Round 2. The duo earned the $47,000 aggregate win with a 33.498, as well.

Young Guns Futurity
Round 1 of the Young Guns League futurity was a battle of the golden stallions. Blazin Sugar Daddy, and Taylor Cherry earned the $10,313 total victory with a 17.021-second run. Owned by Ashley Klassen and bred by Alan & Pam Doughty, the 2019 Young Guns League program stallion is by Blazin Jetolena and out of LS Shamless In Paris by Frenchmans Falcon. The pair earned $10,313 total for the win.

Thursday’s Round 2 saved the best run for last, with Ryann Pedone clocking a 17.088-second time aboard The Sting Queen, her 2020 Feel The Sting out of standout mare Streakin Queenie by A Streak Of Fling. Bred and owned by Pedone, the mare earned $10,313 total for the win.
In the aggregate, Tricia Aldridge’s second-place finishes on both days in 17.065 and 17.110, respectively earned her the aggregate victory on two runs and added over $28K to the stallion’s lifetime earnings before rollovers to the Pink Buckle classes. The standout young stallion is a 2020 Tres Seis out of French Bar Belle by Frenchmans Guy.
Pink Buckle Futurity
Round 1
Decorated trainer and jockey Ashley Schafer took the win during Round 1 on Fiesta By Design, the 2019 Slick By Design mare out of HP Fiesta Fame by Dash Ta Fame. Her 16.732 earned the $35,000 victory, worth $28,000 to owner Schafer, $3,500 to Highpoint Barrel Horses for Slick By Design, and an additional $3,500 as the breeder.
In the 2D, Strawwberita and Ceeli Smith went 17.482 to win the $11,250 payday. The 2020 mare by Shawne Bug Leo out of Wranglermefirst x First Wrangler is owned by Jeff Smith and bred by Audra Masterson.
Round 2
Round 2 saw Kaiden Ayers and Oliver Cromwell, a 2019 Tres Seis out of Dash Ta Moon x Dash Ta Fame smoke the fastest time of the week in 16.606 seconds. The win paid off to the tune of $35,000 for the former racehorse.
Meanwhile, Ashley Schafer clinched her aggregate title on Fiesta By Design with a 17.003-second time and secured the $33,735 victory. Stay tuned for full recaps.

Pink Buckle Youth
The first 16-second time clocked in the Pink Buckle Youth 2024 held on for the win. Kilyn Osburn and RR TooSlick Eye Mist, the 2015 gelding by Slick By Design and out of the NFR qualifying mare and top producer, KN Fabs Mist Of Fame x Frenchmans Fabulous went 16.992 seconds to secure the $2,813 victory. Of those earnings, $2,250 went to owners Noko Ranch, $280 to Highpoint Barrel Horses for Slick By Design and $280 to Robin Weaver as the breeder.
The 2D honors went to Lexi Grempel and TJR Next Level Epic on a rollover from the futurity, the Epic Leader and out of Ocho Dos by Tres Seis. They earned a total of $2,813 in the equal payout divisional format in 17.510 seconds. Grempel owns the 2019 mare who was bred by Nickelbar Ranch.
In the 3D, fan favorite barrel racer, Scarlett Meuth and Im Rockin The Socks, her 2019 BHR Frenchies Socks out of Famous Moonshine x Dash Ta Fame earned the $2,813 win for their 17.994. The mare is owned by Meuth and bred by Bill & Cheryl Kennedy.
The 4D saw young Austin Bednarz go 18.570 seconds on Nancy Bednarz’ 2012 mare by Traffic Guy out of Smashed Ultra x Ultimate Smasher to earn the $2,250 win for Nancy, $281 stallion and $281 for breeder Savannah Hays.
Round 2
Dusky Lynn Hall’s no stranger to the winner’s circle, especially at the Buckle events. She added another round and aggregate win to the title when she clocked a 16.747-second time aboard Aint Seen Famous Yet, her 2014 Aint Seen Nothin Yet out of A Nasty Chick x Its Royal Time. Combined with her third-place finish in 17.017 seconds in Round 1, the 33.765 on two earned Hall the $5,625 aggregate win. Of the earnings, $4,500 belong to Hall as the owner, $563 to Aint Seen Nothing Yet and $563 to Joshua and Kaylee Little as the breeders.
In the round, a 17.272 earned the 2D win for Piper Toon and CP Famous Miss Kitty in Round 2. Owned by Heather Toon, CP Famous Miss Kitty is a 2016 mare by Epic Leader and out of CP Famous Diamonds x Dash Ta Fame and bred by Claire Powell.

Premiere Pink
The first day of the Pink Premiere ended with a victory from Dashin Jack Sparrow and Lexi Benson. The Pink Buckle first-timers went 16.975 seconds to earn the $5,625 win. The 2015 gelding by JL Sirocco and out of A Dash of Whisper by Takin On The Cash, owned by Benson and bred by Shane Bassette.
It was no surprise in Round 2 of the Pink Premiere, that Kaiden Ayres’ rollover aboard Oliver Cromwell from the second round of the futurity held for the win in 16.605 seconds, adding $5,685 to the gelding’s earnings on the week.
Behind Ayres, Rylee Mather and Heavens Fantasia went 16.912 to earn the second-place honors and add $3,803 to Tom Mather’s 2017 mare by JL Dash Ta Heaven out of Return Of The Bully x Bully Bowlan Bug.

Open 4D
The first round of the equal divisional payout Open 4D saw over 370 runners duke it out inside the Lazy E Arena, but none could best Sharin Hall and Hello Stella on their Derby rollover from the beginning of the Buckle week. They added $15,039 to their week earnings thanks to their
Hall and Stella rolled from the Derby at the beginning of the week into the Open class to pick up the round win and add $15,039 to their weekly earnings in Round 1.
In Round 2 as the runs wound down on Sunday, Oct. 13, Kay Blandford reminded the world why she’s a 12-time NFR qualifier and known as one of the top trainers in the business at 69 years old. She stopped the clock in 16.531 Yeah, that’s one of the fastest times in Pink Buckle and Ruby Buckle HISTORY inside the Lazy E Arena on Born Ivory James, the 2014 mare by Born Ta Be Famous out of Chase This Ivory out of Ivory James.
