The WCRA (World Champions Rodeo Alliance) announced today the 27-athlete roster who are featured in Rodeo Corpus Christi on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 5 at 11:30 A.M. CT. Rodeo Corpus Christi is the first stop of the 2022 WCRA $1 Million Triple Crown of Rodeo Presented by Lazy E Ranch and Arena.
In just three short years, the WCRA has awarded more than $11.4 million to rodeo athletes and has created one of the most monumental series ever in the history of rodeo- The $1 Million Triple Crown of Rodeo (TCR). The TCR is a $1 million annual bonus that will be paid out to any one or collection of rodeo athletes who win three consecutive WCRA majors in a row.
Each champion at Rodeo Corpus Christi will walk away with more than $15,000.
Three-time WCRA Champion Riley Webb, will go for his second consecutive TCR win when he ropes in the $553,000 event. The youth rodeo star shined in the 2021 TCR series when the then 17-year-old tie-down roper went into the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo with two consecutive wins under his belt to put him in contention to be the youngest millionaire in the history of rodeo.
Breakaway Roper Bradi Good (Abielne, TX) will also face off against 20x World Champion and Breakaway roping legend Jackie Crawford (Stephenville, TX) in the one-hour broadcast. Crawford’s is looking for her second WCRA Breakaway Championship. In January 2019, Crawford made history when she won the WCRA Windy City Roundup winning more than $52,000, setting the record for the then largest payout ever for a single breakaway roping event in the sport at the time.
Award-winning play-by-play announcer of the PBR, Craig Hummer, will be joined for analysis and insights throughout the event by the PBR legend and World Champion Cowboy Ty Murray, and commentary will come straight from the dirt with Scott Grover bringing up-to-the-second updates from around the arena floor.
