Cheyenne Frontier Days runs its barrel racing on a new WPRA Playoff Series bracket in 2026, sending 72 racers through six first-round performances, three semifinals and a July 26 final for a share of $100,000 in added money.

First round
The first round runs July 17–22, six performances of roughly a dozen racers each. The six fastest times in every performance advance, building a 36-woman semifinal field. The semifinals, July 23–25, send the top four from each to a 12-woman final July 26. Performance 1: Friday, July 17
Anita Ellis set the pace to open the new bracket. Ellis, of Blackfoot, Idaho, clocked 17.87 seconds in Friday’s first performance to win the round and $2,642, the only racer under 18 seconds on the day.
Kim Squires, of Carnegie, Okla., was second at 18.20 for $1,981. Taryn Boxleitner, of Loveland, Colo., took third at 18.28 for $1,321, and Laura Lambert, of Wiggins, Colo., placed fourth at 18.40 for $660. Kathy Grimes (18.61) and Kylie Kanngiesser (18.77) grabbed the fifth and sixth qualifying spots.
All six advance to the semifinals; the first round pays four places.

Tayla Moeykens, of Three Forks, Mont., won the second performance in 17.55 seconds for $2,642, the fastest barrel racing run of the first round so far.
Morgan Addison was second at 17.82 for $1,981, and Kailey Mitton third at 17.95 for $1,321, the only others under 18.
Tristan Parrish took fourth at 18.04 for $660. Ronda Casey (18.10) and Kaycee Killingsworth (18.11) claimed the fifth and sixth qualifying spots; all six advance to the semifinals.
