Who: Thirteen Year End Circuit Winners and 13 Circuit Finals Average Winners qualify for the NFR Open which adds $85,300 to the barrel racing. WPRA barrel contestant entry fees will be paid by the WPRA. Each WPRA contestant will receive $500.
What: The NFR Open powered by RAM, formerly known as the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo
When: July 13-15 @ 6:45 p.m., July 16 @ 12:15 p.m. & 6:45 p.m.
Where: Norris Penrose Event Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado
Ground Rules:
Per the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association ground rules, money won at the NFR Open counts toward WPRA World Standings and for limited entry rodeos. NFR Open will not count toward 2022 NFR Playoff Series standings.
Contestants who confirm entry with the Calgary Stampede will not be accepted into the NFR Open. NFR Open Champion will automatically be qualified to the NFR Playoff Series Finale.
Format:
All barrel racers compete in two long go-rounds in hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals for the Top 8 and Finals for the Top 4. Contestants advancing to the Semis and the Finals will not carry forward times. Average times will not be calculated in the Semifinals/Final rounds.
There will be a drag either after six runs (if 12 original entries) or after seven runs if more then 12 original entries in the barrel racing during the long go-rounds. There will not be a hand rake in the Top 8 or Top 4 rounds. The arena will be re-prepared between the Top 8 and Top 4 round.
Sixty percent of the total prize money will be paid in the first two go-rounds and average. The remaining 40 percent will be paid in the Semis and Final performance. There will be six places in each go-round and average. There will be four places paid in the Semis and Finals.
