Tiany Schuster looked good, felt good and did good at her 2024 NFR appearance, earning $51,345 in the first nine rounds of barrel racing competition and winning the WPRA’s Jerry Ann Taylor best dressed award.
The Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed award is awarded to a barrel racer at NFR each year that receives the highest number of fan votes on their wardrobe picks for the entirety of the event.
This isn’t Schuster’s first time receiving the honor—she did it in 2020, the year of her most recent NFR appearance. In 2024, she had a specific goal in mind in her custom lineup of outfits designed by independent artists.
For those with concerns, yes, Schuster received special PRCA approval for her “PRCA Patch,” rhinestone necklace that aligned with NFR patch guidelines due to its sizing and placement.
Tiany took to her social media after the voting deadline:
“I’m proud of the efforts of the ladies that helped dress me this week. The shirts were amazing. Some may love them. Some may hate them. It was all to bring awareness and attention back to the WPRA and the sport of barrel racing. This year, viewing numbers are up, which means there’s more little girls out there watching. I just wanted to be one of those girls once again, but living my dream at the Thomas & Mack. To be classy and pretty and feminine. I wanted to be proud of how I looked…I wanted to be true to my inner self. I’m proud of the efforts Karla Bañuelas has put in year after year on my outfits, the fantastic dream I had that Elizabeth Calderon brought to life with the brown sequin collaboration of the sequins we had left over from the back number ceremony dress. And the beautiful crystal ensemble that Charlotte Vanatta Meyer put together that was nothing short of diamonds and glitter of Las Vegas.
I am honored to call these ladies friends. Ladies like that, who stand together, make women stronger. These efforts over two weeks helped to feed families around the world. From the sales of new designs and shirt orders, to the designers themselves, plus there were charitable auctions…..Thank you all for your support this week. This week was about the designers, the little girls who will wear the future fashions and keeping big dreams alive.”
