Rodeo Austin kicks off March 14-28, 2026, continuing the Texas Swing of rodeos.
Rodeo Austin traces its roots back to 1938 when it was first established as the Travis County Youth Show. Over the years, it evolved into a prominent event celebrating Texas’ rich cowboy heritage and agricultural traditions. In 1989, it officially adopted the name “Rodeo Austin” and expanded its offerings to include professional rodeo competitions alongside livestock shows, concerts, and other entertainment.

Qualifying Round

Rodeo Austin Format
For the WPRA events, Rodeo Austin will consist of 1 qualifying round to be held over the 11 performances (March 14-24) before moving into a playoff round that is held over three performances (March 25-27). From there, the top eight barrel racers from the playoff rounds will go head-to-head in the finals held March 28.
Rodeo Austin Payout
Payout can vary from year to year as format changes happen. This year’s rodeo has $64,000 added to the pot. Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi’s 15.10-second run took the Rodeo Austin win, good for $11,280
