Kassie Mowry and Heavens Got Credit, “Cornbread,” ran together Wednesday night inside the Thomas & Mack, stopping the clock in 13.42 to win Round 6 of the 2025 National Finals Rodeo.

The victory added $36,667.95 to Mowry’s season earnings and tightened the world standings race as the NFR enters its final stretch.

Cornbread, owned by Mindy Holloway and only recently added to Mowry’s NFR string as a substitute after Force The Goodbye stayed home, proved once again why she believed his style would thrive in this setup. Light, forward, and adjustable, he gave Mowry the feel she’d been working toward as they continued to sync up.

“He’s such a phenomenal horse,” Mowry said after the run. “I’m thrilled with how it’s gone, and proud of the horse he is and the horse she trained.” 

A new partnership finding its stride

Cornbread entered Las Vegas with a strong résumé, but Mowry was open about the challenge of jumping on an unfamiliar horse at the sport’s highest-pressure venue.

“I’m not used to adapting to a horse. I make them adapt to me,” she said earlier in the week. “But it felt really good and made me excited to run him.”

By Round 6, that adaptation had turned into confidence. Mowry placed Cornbread with precision at each turn. The result was one of the fastest, cleanest runs of the week.

Momentum in the standings

The win keeps Mowry firmly in world-title conversation. With $36,667.95 earned on the night and strong horses on both ends of her string, she remains positioned to apply pressure through the back half of the Finals.

“Mindy told me he’s probably one of the oldest horses I’ve ran at 11,” Mowry said, laughing. “And to treat him that way. Just let him go and make a run.'”
