Cowboy Christmas is a distant memory, but that doesn’t mean the WPRA barrel racers aren’t burning up the rubber on the ProRodeo trail just as hot as they were at the start of July and the results aren’t just as exciting as they roll in from across the USA from Salinas to Salt Lake City.

These are the rodeos we’re paying attention to over the weekend because of their ability to affect the world standings conversation in a big way.

BRM staff would like to send a big thank you to all the kind contestants, secretaries and timers sending us results sheets, and to Miles McNarland for expertly corralling the barrel racers on Facebook during the great PRCA System and ProCom online outage of 2023.

1. Days of ’47 Rodeo: Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City’s Days of ’47 is back under WPRA/PRCA approval in 2022, and the money up for grabs is no joke. A week before the performances, barrel racers gritted it out in a slack competition and the top 40 in the round earned their way back into one of four performances on July 19-22.

Each performance pays as a separate rodeo, and two of the 10 cowgirls will qualify through to the finals on Monday, July 23, where the stakes are a cool $25,000 and the coveted Days of ’47 gold medal.
