Kassie Mowry put her first World Championship on lock on Dec. 14 with an impressive finish in the No. 10 round of competition, closing out her fifth NFR appearance with $295,249 earned across ten days, a gold buckle and the RAM Top Gun Award.
In a dramatic one-header in the tenth round, due to Mowry and No. 1 in the standings, Hailey Kinsel, entering neck and neck in the aggregate and world standings, Mowry pulled ahead with a 13.59-second run. It landed her No. 2 in the final round of competition, worth the $26,623 go-round check and fourth-place aggregate placing, worth another . She closed out her 2024 season with $457,808 earned.
That landed ahead of Hailey Kinsel, who changed mounts at the last moment from DM Sissy Hayday to KN Fabs Gift Of Fame. Kinsel’s 13.97-second run from the No. 13 on the dirt fell outside of the round placing.
After the devastating loss of her fiance, Michael Boone midway through 2024, Mowry accumulated an impressive $162,283 in just 27 regular season rodeos to enter her fifth NFR in the No. 4 position. Read more on Mowry’s regular season here.
Her 2018 gelding by The Goodbye Lane and out of VF Forcit First by Burrs First Down, Force The Goodbye was the driving force behind her incredulous season. He also earned the honor of being voted the WPRA’s 2024 Nutrena/AQHA Horse of the Year en route to the NFR.
She had an unprecedented finals, winning five of the 10 rounds and placing in all but two go-rounds.
