On Friday, April 14, Kassie Mowry turned in a 14.04-second run aboard CP He Will Be Epic, “Will,” to clinch the aggregate win at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo.

“I’m just in shock right now,” Mowry said in her interview after the win. “I’m just so proud of how my horse ran. He’s amazing and it was so much fun.”

Mowry went on to say that the win felt special because the first time she met Will because she met his previous owner in the parking lot of the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo years before.

With Mowry’s aggregate win and placings in each of the three rounds of competition, she raked in a totaled $25,282.24 during the event.

The Final night of barrel racing in San Angelo had a star-studded lineup, but the performance win went to two-time world champion Lindsay Sears and SME One of a Kind with a blazing 13.88-second run—the fastest of the 2023 San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo. “Mojo,” a 2016 stallion by First Down Dash and out of the legendary Sugar Moon Express, “Martha,” turned heads due to his copper coloring and eerie resemblance to his world champion dam’s signature, snake-like turning style.

Sears’ 44.19 on three tied her for second in the aggregate with reigning world champion, Hailey Kinsel aboard DM Sissy Hayday, and 2022 San Angelo champ Dona Kay Rule rounded out the top four after her fourth-place finish in the round from the No. 12 position on the ground on High Valor.

BRM will follow this story as it develops and provide readers with updates on the San Angelo winners.
