On Monday, July 25, the 2022 edition of WCRA Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo concluded with the presentation of gold, silver, and bronze medals.
If anybody had any doubts as to whether or not the best barrel racers in the world were in attendance at the World Champions Rodeo Alliance Event, just compare the podium to the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Standings.
In Salt Lake City, it stacked up like this:
Gold Medal: Jordon Briggs and Famous Lil Jet, “Rollo,”
Silver Medal: Stevi Hillman and Famous Lemon Drop, “Lemon Drop,”
Bronze Medal: Wenda Johnson and MacGyver Moonflash, “Mack”
For comparison, Briggs sits No. 1, Johnson is in the No. 2 slot, and Hillman is in the No. 4 position in the WPRA Standings.
“We’re so appreciative of rodeos with huge payouts like this,” Briggs said in a post-run interview. “I skipped Cheyenne (Frontier Days) for this.”
Briggs has been on a heater lately. She even traveled to Ogden, Utah, in between her runs in Salt Lake City to set a new arena record in Ogden, Utah, and pocket $8,584 toward the WPRA Standings. Not a bad week.
